John F. Kennedy won the election of 1960 over Nixon. This was the first televised election. JFK, the Democratic nominee was a catholic which left many protestants concerned. The campaignwas focused on the economy and the cold war; making both canidates key points of helping the economy. Obviously JFKs concerns lead him to a successfull election. Also both were concened to stop communism. Kennedy did a fine job of boosting the economy, expanding Womens rights, and the view of the disabled and mental retardation.
